Palawan transmission line activated after lengthy right-of-way dispute

THE National Power Corp. (Napocor) has activated a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in Palawan that has been stalled for years on right-of-way issues, with the opening of the line expected to provide reliable electricity to thousands of homes in the province.

The facility was completed for P154 million, the state-owned agency said in a statement. It covers a significant portion of the province’s transmission backbone, stretching 111 kilometers between Puerto Princesa City and Roxas town.
The transmission line has 378 steel towers spanning 24 barangays from Langogan in Puerto Princesa to Umalad in Roxas. Of its four construction milestones that started in August 2006, two were finished in 2008 while the rest was left suspended for some time.
