Meralco switches on QC substation facility

MANILA Electric Co. (Meralco) has switched on a gas-insulated substation facility in Quezon City that it expects to meet the rising demand of residential and commercial sites in the area.

“This facility will provide additional capacity to serve the growing power requirements in the areas of Balintawak, Diliman and San Francisco Del Monte in Quezon City,” said Ronnie L. Aperocho, Meralco first vice-president and head of networks, in a statement.

The distribution utility described the 115-kilovolt/34.5-kV substation as the “best fit” for electricity demand in commercial areas and business establishments because of its “compact indoor-type switchgears, less maintenance feature, and aesthetics.”
