THE ABOITIZ power group is keen on participating in auctions for the remaining power generation assets that the government is planning to privatize within the next three years, its top official said on Wednesday.
This comes as the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Corp. (PSALM) announced that it was targeting to privatize next year the hydroelectric power plants along the Agus and Pulangi rivers in Mindanao.
The Agus hydropower complex has an installed capacity of at least 700 megawatts (MW), with the biggest coming from Agus VI in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte. The 200-MW plant has five operating units, two of which have a capacity of 25 MW each and the rest with 50 MW each.
The Pulangi hydroelectric power plant in Maramag, Bukidnon has three units each with an installed capacity of 85 MW.
Ms. Alzona also cited the Caliraya-Botocan-Kalayaan power generation complex in Laguna as among the more attractive power assets. The plants have a combined capacity of around 379 MW.
