THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has fined Keilco Ilijan Corp. for the late filing of the renewal of the certificate of compliance of its 1,436.5-megawatt (MW) Ilijan natural gas combined cycle power plant.
In a decision, the ERC has given the company 15 days from the receipt of its decision to remit P50,000, representing half of the total imposable penalty of P100,000. The amount was the settlement offered by Keilco after the regulator issued a “show cause” order against the company to explain why it should not be penalized for the late filing.
The ERC said it found the settlement amount to be “just and acceptable.” It approved the renewal of Keilco’s certificate of compliance on Oct. 13, 2015. ERC released its decision to media on Friday.
For the same offense, the ERC also fined First Gen Hydro Power Corp., which runs the 12-MW Masiway hydroelectric power plant, and Palawan Power Generation, Inc., which owns the 5-MW Narra diesel power plant. They were also directed to pay the same amount.
