One-hour-long power interruptions were scheduled in Luzon on Tuesday after a power line in Batangas tripped and depleted the island’s electricity reserves.
The “red alert,” which is issued when there is zero reserve, on the Luzon grid was lifted at 4:40 p.m. by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines NGCP.
The Luzon grid remained on yellow alert from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., NGCP said.
“Tentative” one-hour outages may hit certain areas, according to power distributor Manila Electric Co.
